Supreme Court Conducting Hearings via Video Conferencing

Supreme Court

Video-conferencing will be used by the Supreme Court of India officially from Monday for tackling its work. This step was taken in light of reducing the spread of Covid-19 in the court. To discuss the further measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, a full court meeting has been called by the CJI.

The Judges and lawyers that are going to appear before them will be in separate rooms. The judges will be in their respective rooms and the lawyers will be arguing from their designated rooms. Only one court will sit on Monday with the Chief Justice of India SA Bobde, and the chairman of the e-committee, Justice D.Y. Chandrachud.

The court was testing the efficacy of such an arrangement before implementing it in all the courts. A number of steps have been taken in the recent days to ward off the spread of Coronovirus by the Supreme Court. The number of judges sitting in court and the number of cases have been drastically cut.
