The players’ auction for the IPL 2022 season is set to be hosted on 12th and 13th February. The auction will be held at the Hotel ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru. This will be the 15th season of the Indian Premier League. It will be broadcasted on the Star Sports networks in India.
This year, the IPL 2022 will have two new teams. The newly added teams are Lucknow Super Giants and the Gujarat Titans. A total of 590 players are shortlisted for the auction from the original list of 1214 players based on the Wishlist shared by the ten franchises. Of the 590 shortlisted players, 370 are Indian and remaining 220 are foreigners.
Every franchise is allowed to have a minimum of 18 players, and 25 players will be the maximum limit. Each franchise is allowed to have eight foreign players in their squad. Every franchise is required to spend a minimum of INR 67.5 crore ($9 million approx.) from their total budget of INR 90 crore ($12 million approx.).
This year’s IPL will have Tata group as the title sponsor. Hence it would be called Tata IPL 2022.
