In an interview with the team of Insights Success, Rohini explained her inspirations and her professional journey in the beauty industry while shedding some light on the challenges she faced and successfully overcame and her vision toward her future goals.
Rohini, please tell us about the saga of your beauty services since its inception.
If you like the flair of creativity, then you enjoy creating something. So, becoming a makeup artist should be your first choice. And that’s what inspired me to start my saga. In this profession, I can create my own model.
My model is my canvas, and my makeup brush is the tool to show my artistic skills to the world. I do not work based on global trends, but I create on the goal of the project. I create with your artistic eyes, with the combination of my makeup skills and experience.
Yes, a makeup artist career is a lot more than just contouring and highlights. I have so many possibilities to showcase my creativity in this field, which has inspired me to venture into this space.
What was your inspiration behind venturing into the business arena?
Since my childhood, I have been fascinated with the makeup process and how it changes the complete personality of seemingly ordinary ladies. I always admired the makeup artists and beauticians as magicians who crafted the complete facelift.
This was my inspiration to create a difference in the look of women in their daily lives or specific marriage or festive occasions. Apart from making them look pretty, I am glad to bring a new cheer of self-confidence into their lives.
What were the initial challenges that you had to surmount to ensure your beauty business’s success rate reached greater heights?
Being at the start-up level of business, one challenge which I faced very often was the continuous demand for discounts by the clients. To help resolve this was hard, but one of the perks of being a freelance makeup artist is being able to say no!
Being the business-savvy freelancer that you are, you’ve probably already put together a contract and had it signed by your client. They know your rates coming into it, and if they wanted a discount, they should have asked beforehand!
What professional values and qualities do you think your clients value in you and your beauty services, the most?
Following are some of the values that matter:
I consider relationships important – I like to work in a friendly, non-competitive environment. I like to do things for all my clients. I also prefer jobs where I am not pressured to do things that go against my sense of right and wrong.

Rohini Fartade, Makeup Artist, is based in Pune, offering brides an array of makeup and hair services. My packages are split into party makeup, bridal makeup, and occasional makeup. They include classic, HD, and airbrush techniques.
As an experienced professional, what would you like to advise the budding aspirants willing to enter the business world?
The advice I would like to give the budding makeup artist is – You’re either working on overdrive, or you have nothing to do for hours at a time. There never seems to be any middle ground! Working a steady shift would be nice—but you wouldn’t trade working freelance for anything in the world—even if it means you only get a break to eat when your clients do!
How do you envision your company’s operations with the emerging technologies and automated tools that are revolutionizing the business world by enabling innovations?
I wish to take myself and my company from a freelance startup to a grand success. I’ll be launching new kits and programs and envision having my makeup institute in the near future.
