Ritu, what was your inspiration behind venturing into the respective industry?

My journey as an entrepreneur is borne out of my desire to be self-dependent at a very young age. The urge to do something the way I always wanted to do drove me further on the road to entrepreneurship, and finally, in the year 2008, I took the plunge.

Since childhood, I have been passionate about art and aesthetics and felt that I could make a better world for myself and others through art.

I believe it has been the creative artist in me that always guided me to take charge of my dreams, and the best of me as a professional has come out through my enterprise.

Please describe your company/firm/ in detail.

The inception of Art Curries served as the print and digital creative house, creating a successful benchmark. Incorporated in 2008, it has profusely helped companies, individuals, and institutions.

When I started my enterprise, I started it from scratch. So, I know the fundamental challenges one faces in establishing a start-up.

Though, Art Curries helps all sizes of businesses however we believe that small scale enterprises need more handholding as they lack resources and are pushing against many odds.

We help them with a wide range of services like; Corporate Identity, Brand Communication, Web Solutions, Digital Marketing, Photography, Content Development, Consultancy etc., that would help them to navigate their businesses to the right stakeholders.

On the brighter side, 12+ years of experience in the field of branding communication have trained us to take big size clients and provide them boutique solutions for their creative needs. It is vital to stay updated and accessible on social media platforms in today’s world. We support brands to be visible and remain visible on these platforms.

Tell us about your company’s journey in the industry you are catering to.

As a founder of Art Curries, my strength lies in blending traditional art with new-age digital solutions to explore new avenues supporting every brand finding visibility. However, marketing was a significant issue.

In my journey, I realized that clients were focused on show-offs rather than better working skills. I started with the aim of providing quality services with detailed artwork and one of the best customer services.

Over time, it made the clients comfortable while discussing their ideas, and it made my job easy too.

My clientele grew, and now it includes some of the best NGOs, educational institutions, and corporates such as Breakthrough, IIT Jammu and Naturals etc. We built our reputation in the field through word of mouth. I believe this is our achievement where the work delivered spoke for itself.

It boosted my confidence, and I thought of getting an office space of my own and hiring 1-2 employees. Honestly, this in itself was a considerable risk. With the help of a few friends who believed in me and my work, I managed to get an office space at an affordable price and, after ten days, hired four employees.

Those were the biggest risky experiments I did, and thanks to all of them who made it a success. In just two years, I could see my enterprise grow from pillar to pillar.

The journey from being self-dependent to taking responsibility to pay my staff’s salaries was the yardstick I measured the success of Art Curries.

What were the initial challenges you faced while venturing into the respective industry?

As you may know, whenever the recession hits the market, many businesses’ first response is to refrain from spending on marketing or branding. In 2008, when I started the company in May, the recession hit globally.

The Indian market was one of the safest, yet managing the clients, and the payments was burdensome. The clients relied on stable service providers with testimonials, portfolios, references, office space, accessibility of employees etc.

I did not have any of those to convince the clients initially. Since I began the enterprise independently, I did not have any financial backup or support to take this enterprise forward.

However, perseverance is the key to making an enterprise stable and prosperous. In two years, market conditions improved, and our qualitative work held on building the reputation of Art Curries. We sailed through the challenging waves.

What are the USPs that highlight your brand/company’s uniqueness?

How do you envision your company’s operations eventually, concerning the changing scenario of your niche, post-pandemic?

The pandemic period worldwide brought us together to work on sustainable and purposeful ideas. Looking at the uncertain situations, it is highly likely that offices may not reopen soon. As the world has moved to operate from “work from home,” Art Curries too has been active on a similar trend.

We have faced extreme challenges in terms of physical and mental health and finances that are putting pressure like never before. But, as an entrepreneur, I saw this option as a convenient option where health is protected, people sitting at home in their comfort zone and working with ease of mind.

There is some level of monetary and commute time savings. The project execution is happening online with ease right now. Post pandemic as well, we will do what is in the interest of Art Curries and the clients. We prefer to use the similar trend of operating from home while serving the best creative ideas for our clients.
