The HDFC Bank board of directors accepted Renu Karnad’s re-appointment as Non-Executive Director for a five-year term beginning September 3, 2022, at a meeting held on April 17.
The parent Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited nominated Karnad (HDFC).
Karnad, according to HDFC Bank, provides a wealth of expertise and understanding in the mortgage market, having worked in the real estate and mortgage industries in India for over 40 years.
Karnad, for example, is not precluded from holding the position of the director as a result of any SEBI decision or other similar authority. She is not related to any of the Bank’s directors.
Since 2010, Renu Karnad has served as the Managing Director of Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited. She graduated with a master’s degree in economics from the University of Delhi and a law degree from the University of Mumbai. She is also a Parvin Fellow at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
