According to an announcement made Monday by the US global courier service business, Raj Subramaniam, an Indian American, would be the new Chief Executive Officer of FedEx.
Raj Subramanian would succeed Frederick W Smith, who would step down as chairman and CEO on June 1. He will now serving as the company’s executive chairman.
“As we look forward to the future, I am certain that a leader of Raj Subramaniam’s caliber will lead FedEx to a very successful future,” Smith said in a statement.
Smith said he is looking forward to focusing on Board governance as well as global problems such as sustainability, innovation, and public policy in his new post. FedEx was started by Smith in 1971.
“Fred is a brilliant company leader and a business legend. He founded one of the world’s most renowned enterprises, and it is an honor and privilege for me to take up this job and continue to expand on what he started”. FedEx issued a statement on Mr. Subramaniam’s behalf.
Mr. Subramaniam was elected to the FedEx Board of Directors in 2020 and will remain on the board, according to the business.
