Some renowned companies such as Paytm, Infosys, and MakeMyTrip are seeking the permission of the Indian government to provide online covid-19 vaccine bookings. This information comes from the head of the government’s tech platform, as the country plans to make the booking of vaccine shots easier for the citizens.
With the government’s relaxation of rules last month, third party apps can now offer vaccine booking options. Due to delays and shortages, the government has taken back control of procurement of vaccines from the states. The government had also faced initial problems with its own booking platform.
Around 15 state agencies and private companies have asked for the government the permission to offer vaccine bookings. Some of these companies are healthcare giants Apollo and Max, and online pharmacy, 1mg.
The top payment app, Paytm has more than 100 million monthly active users, while MakeMyTrip has 12 million. These popular apps are providing more options to Indians who are looking for vaccination booking options, especially if they are struggling with an unfamiliar government platform.
Sources say that it will be better for the country because the combination of different platforms is better and more effective than just one.
