Niti Aayog CEO Highlights India’s Path to Global Leadership and Green Economy

Niti Aayog

India has a way to go to be a major player in the world, green economy as has been laid in the last decade of overcoming major challenges such as natural calamities and dearth said CEO of Niti Aayog B. V. R. Subrahmanyam recently talking at a forum in which he shared India’s fast development and its increasing influence at the global level.

Focus should be laid on the green economy, Subrahmanyam says, adding that Niti Aayog is already building up a roadmap for the attainment of India as a net zero carbon economy, 2070. “We have set up a task force and are working closely with the Central and state governments to meet all these aspiring targets,” he said, pointing out the need for a organized national method to achieve environmental sustainability.

GVCs in the economic approach of India is one of the prominent themes of his speech. Sectoral improvement along with services is its focus area to strengthen the presence of India in global trade. Better GVCs would be a more effective way for India to integrate into the world economy. This is one of the key tasks that the country needs to continue on its growth trajectory.

Developing the city was also cited as the way to stimulate economic development. The city, according to Subrahmanyam, should be designed as an economic center to forge infrastructure that would support long-term growth. This, he argued, is essential to ensure that India continues to grow.

To this end, he also called for higher participation by the private sector in innovation and investment areas. “The private sector must lead in these areas, supported by an enabling environment that attracts both portfolio and direct investments,” Subrahmanyam said, adding that public-private partnerships will be key in achieving sustainable economic development.

Supply chain reforms stood out as another crucial area where India had to concentrate on its globalization policy. Subrahmanyam strongly puts forth the fact that reforms in the states and commitment to cooperative federalism is critical to achieving growth inclusively across the country.

The vision for India’s future rests on the bedrock of environmental sustainability, global integration, and infrastructural development, all girded by reforms and built under the leadership of a reinvigorated private sector. He expressed full confidence that these efforts would place India among the world’s giants in the years ahead.
