On Thursday, 20th February 2020, union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, said LPG prices may go down next month. The Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and Steel, was talking to reporters who arrived at the Swami Vivekananda Airport on his two day trip to Chhattisgarh.
Pradhan replied to the question regarding the constant increase in LPG prices, “This is not true that the price (of LPG) is constantly increasing. This month it was hiked due to the international market. However, there are indications that the prices may come down next month.”
The pressure on the sector is high during winters as the consumption increases. This month there is an increase in the price, whereas the price will reduce in the next month, he added.
The cooking gas price hiked by a steep Rs. 144.5 per cylinder last week. This hike was caused due to the sudden rise in the benchmark global fuel rates. The government almost doubled the subsidy provided on fuel, to insulate the domestic customers.
Pradhan will be visiting Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) located in Durg district during this two day trip and arrange meetings with union representatives, plant officials and others. He will also visit the ore mines of the Bhilai Steel Plant to lay the foundation of a beneficiation plant there.
The union minister said, “BSP holds an important place in our country’s steel industry, especially for Indian Railways as it meets 98 percent of the requirement of the rail. How we can further improve the production capacity of the plant will be discussed with its officials during my visit.”
