The COVID-19 pandemic has enforced a new normal. How, according to you, will the industry change and modify its workings to meet the new requirements?

COVID-19 has come out as a big shocker for the corporate world as none of the industries were prepared for such kind of unfathomable emergency which has flawed many best-planned supply chains and business strategies.

As a policy, corporates always plan for a contingency situation, but the pandemic has caught us all in a banana skin kind of a situation. The industries that have been working on JIT Inventory Management have been the most affected since they do not plan for huge inventory as a backup to save on cost.

In the current shipping scenario, the frequency of ships/aircraft calling at most of the Asian ports has been slashed due to demand-supply imbalances of container inventories and cargo. The shipping lines are overbooked and having a space crunch and are offering delayed bookings by almost three to four weeks.

A dedicated supply chain crisis management task force is required at the national level to handle and take on any supply chain challenges, alongside being empowered to take decision in order to ensure delivery of essentials to human life or raw materials for production and cycle back the goods into the market.

Through a collaborative and integrated supply chain approach we can strike balance between human health and the economy whilst being more prepared to face any ‘VUCA’ situation.

Where do you envision your organization to be in the long run and what are your future goals?

We look forward to being reckoned among the best integrated logistics and supply chain solution providers with global footprints thereby controlling the cargo at both ends of the supply chain.

Liladhar Pasoo wishes to use technology, operational capability, knowledge, and the personal touch of a family company to create values for our customers globally thereby being benchmarked as the best logistics and supply chain company for its commitment and best practice-based services. We strive to control market share in 18 different industries by developing world-class infrastructure processes and people.
