Let’s Explore Lal Bahadur Shastri History in depth

Lal Bahadur Shashtri birthday which is on 2nd October, thus a very appropriate time for an analysis of the life, political career, achievements, and legacy of this great leader. The Lal Bahadur Shastri quotes are inspiring and motivating to people for building big dreams through simple and disciplined lifestyle.
Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on 2nd October in the town of Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh. A follower of Gandhi, he was impressed and inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s denouncement decisions in respect of princes who support the British, the Non-cooperation Movement, Quit India Movement, Dandi March, and Swadeshi.
Ending as he did his academic career with the Kashi Vidya Peeth, Varanasi, from his very beginning Lal Bahadur Shastri cast himself into the freedom struggle with hectic fervor. He led many defiant campaigns and spent altogether seven years in British jails. His steel was tempered and matured in the heat of battle.
It was not long before he became Parliamentary Secretary in his home State of Uttar Pradesh and soon advanced to the position of Home Minister. His hard effort and effectiveness became well-known in Uttar Pradesh. He moved to New Delhi in 1951 and became Member and Minister, holding several portfolios in the Union Cabinet: Minister for Railways; Minister for Transport and Communications; Minister for Commerce and Industry; Home Minister; and during Nehru’s illness, he served as a Minister without portfolio. He resigned as Minister for Railways because he held himself responsible for a railway accident where many lives had been lost. This unprecedented gesture was highly appreciated by the Parliament and the country at large.
Responding to the long argument on the Railway accident, Lal Bahadur Shastri said; “Perhaps because I am small in size and soft of tongue, people are apt to believe that I am not able to be very firm.”
Between ministerial posts, he continued to devote his organizational skills to the business of the Congress Party. The Party’s landslide victories in the General Elections of 1952, 1957, and 1962 were largely due to his total affiliation with the cause and organizational genius.
Lal Bahadur Shastri dedicated more than thirty years to the nation service. During this period, he became known as a man of great integrity and competence. He was humble, tolerant in all respects, had great inner strength and resoluteness, and therefore, he was a man of the people who understood their language. Lal Bahadur Shastri was profoundly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s political beliefs. He once declared, in accents that were strikingly similar to those of his Master, that hard effort is equivalent to prayer.

He said, “We believe in peace and peaceful development, not only for ourselves but for people all over the world.”
The leader who had the slogan, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” told that it is absolutely impossible for any nation to be constructed and developed without soldiers and farmers.
This marked commitment toward peace, agriculture, and economic growth so that people still remember this day in India.
Lal Bahadur Shastri was a great visionary who proved himself truly dedicated to the development of his nation.
He said, “There comes a time in the life of every nation when it stands at the crossroads of history and must choose which way to go.”
Hardcore nationalist and strong statesman, Lal Bahadur Shastri himself was upholding the ‘oneness’ of India, for the diversity being the strength of the country, as everybody is one and equal. He spelt it out quite clearly while talking, “The peculiar thing about our country is that we have Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Parsis, and persons belonging to all other religions. But we do not bring all this to politics.”
His message on peace, cooperation and equality echoed through his statesmanship as he construed the nation with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He firmly believed that “Our path is straight and clear – the building up of a socialist democracy at home, with freedom and prosperity for all, and the maintenance of world peace globally.”
Noble, earthy, humble, his principles in him-a man who believes the collective progress of the nation, where everybody gets a chance to work, grow, and live a good life.
People were his highest priority on the agenda thereby making Lal Bahadur Shastri as a popular people’s leader. All the things should benefit the people of the country and empower everyone to progress together.
