KKR to Invest $450 Mln in Hero Future Energies

Global private equity (PE) conglomerate KKR will be investing $450 million, approximately around ₹3,585 crores, in Hero Future Energies (HFE), the renewable energy division of the Hero Group, the companies declared on Tuesday.

As mentioned in a statement, “This investment will position HFE for continued growth and support its efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity and capabilities across technologies such as solar, wind, battery storage, and green hydrogen, and into new markets over time.”

The investment in Hero Energies is seen as a major step in green energy development, KKR builds on extensive experience in India and the renewable energies sector. In the Asia Pacific, KKR views renewables as the focus of its infrastructure strategy and aims to capture potential opportunities across the region. In 2020, it set up Virescent Infrastructure, a renewable energy platform to own and operate renewable assets in India.
