Kirby India introduced this concept in the year 1999 and faced many challenges during the initial phase. The major challenge was the lack of acceptability of steel as a building material as the Indian construction industry had not evolved and most of the construction was done with regular brick and mortar or other traditional construction. Also, steel construction was completely new and most of them were not aware of PEB construction technology. Kirby’s Imminent Projects
There are many projects that are under execution at different stages of the project cycle such as design, drafting, fabrication, construction, etc. One of these unique project is currently under construction stage is for ABB India Ltd. This project consists of different buildings at two project locations for power transmission from one location to another location being executed for Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL). Valve Hall Supporting Structure is the main building which is being constructed at a height of 25 m with 40 m clear span. It consists of very heavy loadings in the form of valves which are directly hanging from the rafters. Each valve is further having two mono-rails which are resting on the rafter with each rafter weighing approximately 25 MT and designed with very stringent deflection criteria. This structure is a completely dust free and air tight and is provided with 2-hour fire rated wall panels.
