Hydromo
Jay Chadalwada | CMD | HYDROMO

Water is very important for human beings and other living things. In the human body, 70% of fluids are water. Bone marrow needs water to generate blood and then the blood carries the oxygen from the lungs to the whole body. Besides that, water can maintain a human’s body temperature and provide it with natural vitamins with minerals. Water is not only essential for the human body, but it also plays an important role in our daily life activities like washing clothes, cooking food, bathing for personal hygiene, and acting as a solvent for all cleaning reagents. Consequently, water industries refer to a problem solver in this situation.

Water treatment is any process that improves the quality of water to make it appropriate for a specific end-use. The end use may be drinking, industrial water supply, irrigation, river flow maintenance, water recreation, or many other uses, including being safely returned to the environment. Water treatment removes contaminants and undesirable components or reduces their concentration so that the water becomes fit for its desired end-use. This treatment is crucial to human health and allows humans to benefit from both drinking and irrigation use.

Hydromo is a water treatment and wastewater management company catering to industrial, commercial, and luxury home sectors with sustainable water and energy solutions. This is enabled via Consulting, design, installation, and support cycle. Inspired by the works associated with Naandi and Water health while working with Dr. Reddy, Jay ChadalwadaCMD of the company realized the significance of water as a resource and how the basic needs are also not accessible to less fortunate people living in rural areas.  This was a key driver in setting up Hydromo. Let us read the given below excerpts of the interview to know more:

Kindly talk about the various or specialized wastewater management or treatment services that your company provides to its clients.

We believe in customizations as per our client requirements and providing the technologies that best fit. Factors like client opex, capex – Ensuring the PCB norms, providing space-efficient yet comprehensive solutions have been our strength.

MBR – This technology acts as biological for all industry effluent treatment. For all STP, this technology is self-contained for any size. It cuts pre-treatment, post-treatment layers and is space efficient. We have built this expertise across Pharma, Agro, and textile industries successfully.

Lucas SBR – The most traditional technology next to the MBBR process.  Was earlier used in biological treatment in industries.  OUR USP: Due to my large experiences we are able to design custom solutions to solve PCB issues and client requirements such as including DAF and MBR in a packaged STP unit. Implementing ZLD and near ZLD designs and demonstrating good economics, corporate responsibility, and environmental stewardship. Our few pilot and commercial tests showed successful outcomes to our clients in achieving more than 75% of water recovery and a 50% reduction in energy consumption.

What kind of challenges has the company and its team faced being in the wastewater treatment business?

The challenges and nuances are many we encounter from stakeholders like, clients, vendors, etc. But to talk about a few, Educating the clients with the workable systems, Explanation for water-saving like in the place of Krishna River and the Godavari or wherever the river water is abundant the Developers or the Industrial people not concerned about water wasted or left untreated. Since the segment is nonprofitable for the Builders as well as the Industrial segments where we would like them to be environment friendly rather than merely being focused on PCB compliance.

Dealers of equipment like Pumps Motors or other water treatment products engage any local or experienced service professional from a reputed company to install the ETP/STP/RO etc. and the engineering and design lose sight.

One of the growing pain areas is that the industry giants leave projects halfway through or unfinished and we take over, our team must reconstruct, there is more innovation and design thinking involved to work in specific limitations.

According to you, how does the future of Indian wastewater management and treatment space look post-pandemic?

Based on application, the municipal applications segment is estimated to command the largest share of the water and wastewater treatment market in 2021. The large share of this segment is mainly attributed to the governments’ growing focus on water quality and public health, the growing number of water treatment projects, especially in Asian countries, and the aging existing infrastructure in developed countries. However, the industrial application segment is expected to grow at the highest CAGR during the forecast period. The rapid growth of this segment is mainly attributed to the growth of the global industrial sector and the growing demand for water and wastewater treatments for providing clean and processed water.
