Google earlier this year launched a low-cost smartphone in India in partnership with Reliance Jio. This allowed a complete android operating experience for first-time internet users in India. Google is likely to adopt this concept globally in other emerging markets.
Google is committed to working with Jio for its low-cost smartphone, along with that, it will also explore different territories. Google can also take this concept outside India if an opportunity arrives, Sanjay Gupta, country head, Google India, confirmed in an interview.
Google is focusing on taking this proposed idea global. Once the supply chain is stabilized in the upcoming quarters, the market itself will make it clear if it wants to take the concept global or not, Sanjay Gupta added.
