Remember Campa Cola? The childhood cola brand enjoyed by generations will be back in the market this Diwali. Reliance acquired Campa from the Pure Drinks Group and is planning to relaunch it nationally in three flavors – variants of lemon, orange, and the iconic original.
Pure Drinks Group first introduced Coca-Cola in India in 1949 and was its sole licensed manufacturer and distributor in India. Pure Drinks Group, which also owns the Le Méridien hotel in Delhi, launched Campa Cola in the late 1970s, soon after Coca-Cola’s sudden exit from the country.
According to a report, Reliance acquired soft drink brand Campa from Delhi-based Pure Drinks Group in a deal estimated at ₹ 22 crore. Reliance probably is launching it again in October around Diwali this year.
The company will introduce Campa cola through JioMart, Reliance Retail stores, and more than 15 lakh kiranas. With this deal, Reliance is poised to compete with the US cola brands of Pepsi and Coca-Cola respectively.
