There is no need to describe the importance of the English language specifically. As it is the most widely spoken language in the world, with one-point-five billion speakers worldwide, everyone is quite aware of the universal status of this language.
An inability to speak English can create difficulty in personal and professional life. If, as a person, you are highly educated and intelligent. Still, if you cannot speak in English, you cannot present your hard-earned degree, experience, knowledge, hobbies, strengths, and weaknesses to the person you interact with.
This creates more misconceptions about your ability since English is the language of the business and the corporate world. This can create a hurdle in your professional progress and accomplish your entrepreneurial goals, ultimately affecting your future prospects.
On the other hand, if you are a fluent English speaker, you can quickly get into the limelight and make the best impression. Your proficiency in English can allow you to get into whichever profession or business you wish to, but you can also work in foreign countries. It will help you connect locally and globally, which will enhance your overall personality and your socio-professional network.
Grasping these scenarios astutely, Dhatri Dubey, a commerce professional, founded Prose Global Education to help people overcome the communication barriers they face while speaking in English. To prepare herself for the cause, she went to IH Sydney Australia to complete a course in Cambridge CELTA, where she met many people and understood the depth of this issue.
In an interview with Insights Success for its edition of ‘India’s 40 under 40 Brightest Business Leaders, Dhatri Dubey talked about what made her start this venture, her inspirations, struggles, ideals, attributes, and how she is embracing the developing technologies to advance Prose Globe Education further.
Please tell us about the saga of Prose Global Education since its inception.
Prose Global Education started with the idea of assisting students and professionals with their English needs. As our clients increased, we categorised our services in Curriculum English (All Boards), Business Communications, effective Communication in classroom teaching, English Proficiency Examinations and Competition based English.
As our network grew across geographical boundaries, we opened doors to Non-Native English speakers to join us and get mentored by a team of CELTA and TESOL qualified ELICOS professionals. So far, we have carved a niche in the ESL sector in countries like France, Germany, Canada, and the UAE. We are in the process of launching our home bred research in the ESL sector which will mark a collaboration between ELICOS contributors from across continents.
What was your inspiration behind venturing into the business arena?
Coming from a commerce background, I often encountered professionals who lost out on several opportunities because of language and communication barriers. Extremely qualified people with an elaborate experience couldn’t justify their skills due to a lack in terms of their communication in English. This touched my heart, and I went to IH Sydney, Australia, to complete a course in Cambridge CELTA. This gave me an opportunity to interact with people from various nationalities, and I realised that it was a universal problem. So, in order to provide a solution, I came up with this venture.Â
What were the initial challenges that you had to surmount to ensure Prose Global’s success rate to reach greater heights?
The pandemic reduced us all to our computer screens, and as a result, it was very difficult to set up a network and generate substantial business. People often preferred face-to-face interaction due to the skill building aspect of the language. It took us a lot of time to develop integrated Learning Management systems to provide the best to our students.
What professional values and qualities do you think your clients value in you and your company the most?
We are known for taking RESPONSIBILITY. We believe that the moment a student enrols with us, he/she/they become a part of our corporate family. We are persistent in ensuring that students develop the necessary skills before they venture into the professional arena. I personally keep in touch with all students and their guardians to ensure a lifelong connectivity with them.
What USPs highlight Prose Global’s uniqueness in the industry you are catering to?
We have a state-of-the-art digital infrastructure to support all our language courses. Our pedagogies are curated in the language lab itself and not merely purchased from a third party. We have the liberty of customising the courses as per the student’s requirement. We’re also easy on the pocket.
As an experienced professional, what would you like to advise budding aspirants willing to enter the business world?
Always listen to your gut feeling. There are times you mind reconsider your decision of stepping into the business, but at the end of the day, it’s your intellectual property and asset. Persistence and having a very strong conviction to succeed is a gamechanger. You have the freedom to create and innovate and enjoy the fruits of your labour solely. And in the end, PLEASE READ books on strategy, particularly Chanakya, Kautilya, Sun Tzu, and the likes of them.
How do you envision Prose Global’s operations with the emerging technologies and automated tools revolutionizing the business world by enabling innovations?
As discussed, we are fostering research in the ESL sector, and we cannot ignore the fact that AI and Machine Learning will be the future of language schools across the globe. We believe in embracing these two revolutionary technologies in the near future.
