Context-Rich Systems – Future Of Technology

Strategies

With the advancement of personal technology, the personalization of the experience of technology is advancing too. Additionally, how users will interact with their personal technology depends on the particular context of their use.
This trend of context-rich systems , is a direct response to this growing need for more reactive and adaptive technology and the personalization of the experience. We are at the threshold of a very exciting time in adaptive technology, and the use of these complex systems and applications that draw information about the situation and the environment surrounding people, places, and things, really has the ability to revolutionize the entire world.
Personalized Context-Rich Systems
Context-rich systems work deeper in personalization by pulling in a number of diverse signals about the user and their context — from their location and the device they are on, to the weather and speed they are traveling. Additionally, it can use these signals to adjust content, display and input methods, according to the user’s current situation. It gives better feedback to the user and allows the user to seamlessly link together various services to engage more fully with the website.
Ecosystems getting created by Context-rich Systems
With the increase of bringing more and more internet-connected devices into homes and businesses, the existence of personal ecosystems has started to form, and the subsequent usefulness of context-rich systems are becoming more evident. Just a while ago, companies that had attempted to use Context-Rich Systems made the mistake of applying outdated technology principles to their new technology. Biggest example of its failure is, the Internet-connected refrigerators, which soon became a center of a joke. But in reality, the true advantage of context-rich systems is when the technology is used in a way that doesn’t disrupt the user’s life, but instead bridges various services to work together seamlessly.
Integration Of Context-Rich System
The core of context-rich system is to collaborate the raw data with deep analytics, an integration that both reflect awareness of the surrounding environment and responds to the user actions. Now, the big technology problem is how to deal with this raw data. These types of systems rely on users connecting and computing from anywhere in order to gather the constant data required to build its context. Now, the difficulty with this data is that these large quantities of crude data have a number of random variables such as diversity, speed, and quantity. ‘Intelligent inferencing’, is the solution over it. In it system must make educated guesses, bridging factors between raw data collection and intelligent, contextually aware computing systems.
Future Perspective
Looking at the future, it is clear that context-rich systems will lead the upcoming strategic technology trends, because contextually relevant data sharing is the ultimate goal of modern technology, with user convenience being the ultimate outcome.
In the meantime, beyond user experience, businesses stand to see overall improvement with almost real-time, context-rich results becoming of extreme importance when it comes to ensuring swift decision making and better operations control. Just imagine about a system that can track foot traffic in and out of a store and then automatically recruit more floor workers to open up registers at a major retailer, freeing up lines and moving people through the store more quickly.
This rapid movement towards the context-rich systems means advancing from the point where all people and their data are expected to be connected and available all the time, to a place where we are not only constantly interconnected, but we expect that every object, place, and environment, will gain awareness of who is there, what is happening in the context, and how to interact with its surroundings.
But before we can fully embrace this future, we need to accomplish a couple of things.
Need to search a way to maximize network intelligence. Well, finding the right data is just the beginning. We will need to bridge the gaps and boost our network intelligence. Data by its own is totally worthless. The true value of data is in the insights we extract from it. But the currently available platforms are not that much of use.
In the future world, networks will have the ability to react to data’s context, not just the data itself. And then the context will be determined by a combination of four data layers:
First- Device layer: where devices communicate with each other
Second- An individual layer: where information about browsing history, location history and online records will be there
Third- A social layer: which links people across social platforms
Forth- An environmental layer : information about current conditions, such as nearby businesses, streets and the weather
Need to Develop cross-platform, universal personal profiles
There will be a need to aggregate every piece of information about individual users into one place. This can be the only way to fully understand the context of each user and gain a dynamic understanding of his characteristics and needs.
For an instance, if you search for a project manager, you won’t see the same project managers that business leaders in other industries are seeing. Contrary, your results will be personalized with the information the platform has about you, such as your geographic location, your job experience, your likes and dislikes and the brands you follow.
We need to gain a semantic understanding of user data. Now this is a time to take the next step in proactively developing insights on users based on the context of who they are and what they’re likely seeking.
What we need is, to head towards context-rich systems and personalize it within the context of what’s relevant to each person.
