Centurion University of Technology and Management conceived security Infrastructure to combat next Gen Threats with Gajshield Data Security.

Sonit jain | Gajshield Data Security | Press Release

The University was incorporated with basic security solutions. With growing times, several other requirements needed to be catered, for instance from the very basic captive portal to authenticate users, Restriction to access without authentication, blocking of various proxy application & regulation of the usage of Wi-Fi which could lead to misuse of it and also devise a solution for unauthorized downloads that were taking place using these means. Apart from this the major concern remained protecting the in-house servers.
The Solution:
Keeping all these security requirements in mind, Gajshield incorporated security solutions ideal for the client. Gajshield incorporated ICSA certified firewall, URL filtering, gateway antivirus, Intrusion Prevention System and Performance Management with Traffic Analysis, Network behavior analysis, Application visibility and filtering with Bandwidth Management. These features helped to cover the key requirements of the client.
Looking at the growth in BYOD adaption, BYOD policies were implemented that helped the university by not only regularising network policies while providing network access to students but also saved a lot of money on not needing to buy new laptops and computers for students. The use of mobile phones demanded to need to include Mobile devices under the network which was taken care by BYOD solution along with security features and a managed browsing policy.
A browsing policy was configured in the hostel for users, these policies were setup on the basis on no. of students as per batch size so as to restrict URL access. This helped in keeping control of browsing activity of the students and saving data by restricting access to data heavy and data consuming non-educative website. A restriction on downloading was also setup, where a file size of not more than 20mb was allowed to download and anything over and above it will be restricted. This help in saving bandwidth and utilise it for a productive use.
A data quota for the students of the university also defined that allocated certain bandwidth and data volume to each and every user on weekly and monthly basis. This allowed the university to enforce data restriction on students and maintain use of data for useful purposes only. Once the assigned uploading/downloading bandwidth quota is utilised for an user, browsing gets stopped for that user, this makes easier for an administrator to identify the user usage and generate the report accordingly.
A server is hosted that is secured by the firewall, with Complete security enabled using Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), Data leak prevention, advanced intelligent sandboxing etc. service which helps to deeply inspect the packets and protecting the network.
The university is protected from both internal and external threats on network level.
• External Threat Protection – Antivirus, Anti-spam, IPS, ATP.
• Internal Threat Protection – URL filter, APP filter, Anti-spam, DLP.
With growing use of the internet, things moving online and adaptation of BYOD policies, The University is equipped to handle future devices and traffic arising through such devices while maintaining complete visibility of network activities. The firewall acts as a line of cyber defense from the zero-day and future threats using the Advanced Threat Protection, Contextual Intelligence Engine, Data leak Prevention etc. and recently released firmware GajOS 4.0 Bulwark helps in gaining complete visibility of the network, right at one place. Backed by GajShield Threat lab, that is updated with the latest threat by gathering intelligence from around the world, it helps in identifying latest threat and protect the organization.
Gajshield Solutions, not only helped the University to safeguard the existing Technologies, but future-proofed the upcoming developments too.
