To improve passenger experience, Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport) has adopted AI-driven help robots. According to a statement released on Tuesday, ten robots have been placed at the airport as part of a study to help travellers navigate the airport and answer basic questions.
After measuring client input, the robot count will be increased in a measured manner and further enhanced in terms of functionality and features over time.
BLR Airport has teamed up with Artiligent Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a company that specialises in artificial intelligence and robotics, to model the robots and develop a unique passenger services programme. The airport stated that English would be the default language of communication, with additional regional and international languages in the works.
“Pre-empting passenger needs and supplementing new-age technology with a targeted customer-centric team approach has been our successful combination,” stated Bengaluru International Airport Limited Chief Operating Officer Jayaraj Shanmugam.
According to the announcement, the robots will provide various services, including flight status information, passenger convenience services, navigational assistance, and retail and F&B information.
They will tour the terminal independently and assist passengers to their destinations. It added that if the robot is unable to answer questions for whatever reason, travellers would be quickly connected to the ‘Airport Help Desk’ via video call on the robot’s screen.
