Global Entrepreneurship Summit recently held in Hyderabad had women entrepreneurship as its central theme. This initiative, called Amazon Saheli, is being rolled out in partnership with non-government social service entities Self-Employed Women Association (SEWA) and Impulse Social Enterprise.
‘The Saheli Store’ will feature distinctive products produced locally by these women entrepreneurs. Initially including handicrafts, apparel, handbags and home décor items, the store will steadily scale up to on-board women entrepreneurs marketing different product categories. To primarily kick start “The Saheli Shop” webpage Amazon held pilots for Amazon Saheli over the last several months where it on-boarded a small number of women wholesalers. Amazon Saheli will help the registered women entrepreneurs gain world-class logistics and fulfillment facilities to help their businesses rise and also offer an unparalleled extent to customers
Extensive training and skill development workshops will be conducted by Amazon Saheli to help women entrepreneurs understand nuances related to online marketing and improve skills & capabilities necessary to grow their business on Amazon India. Sessions in the training workshops will comprise of listing of products, packaging & shipping, imaging & cataloging, inventory & account management and customer service. The workshops will be free of cost and will offer several exclusive benefits comprising assisted onboarding and mentorship programs. The e-market place model is an avenue for women entrepreneurs to benefit from the fast-growing digital economy. This vision and determination among Indian women entrepreneurs, is how Saheli can be inspiring their innovative spirit and enthusiasm. This initiative will transform how India buys and sells by enabling small entrepreneurs to scale up. ATES (Amazon Trained E-commerce Specialists), SPN (Service Provider Network), IHS (I Have Space) and Udaan are the other programs obtainable by Amazon India which will later be extended.
