Amazon stated that the employees diagnosed with the novel coronavirus would receive up to two weeks of pay. These employees were inclusive of part-time warehouse workers and Amazon regular employees. This was done in order to support the workers who continued to work amid coronavirus. Even though the workers were asked not to come they continued to work.

Amazon has stated that it would also fund a relief fund to help all the contractors and gig workers who had been affected by the novel coronavirus. The company’s independent delivery partners Amazon Flex Delivery drivers would be affected but could request a grant that approximately sums up to two weeks of payment. This would only be feasible when the said person has been diagnosed with the novel Coronavirus or has been put into quarantine.

Amazon had planned to fund the Amazon Relief fund by donating an amount of $25 million. Amazon had been constantly supporting employees on a one to one basis if they have been detected with coronavirus or had been put under quarantine. Similarly, Instacart, DoorDash, Uber, and Lyft have instated new policies that allow their gig workers up to two weeks of paid leave if they were to be sick. Postmates had launched a fund for delivery workers could use to pay for COVID-19 related medical expenditure.

Amazon has other policies in place for its employees that allow any employee who has been facing financial difficulties due to other events such as natural disasters or any other emergencies, they could apply for grants from the Amazon Relief Fund ranging from $400 to $5000 per person.
