Airtel Plans to Close Down Wynk App, Partners with Apple for Music and Content

Airtel first launched the Wynk Music app a decade ago, in 2014. As of present, it is projected to have more than 100 million subscribers. 

Airtel will shortly discontinue its Wynk Music app in favor of collaborating with Apple to offer music and video content to subscribers. Later this year, the telecom behemoth will provide exclusive Apple TV+ and Apple Music deals to its Indian consumers. 

“We can confirm that we will sunset Wynk Music and that all Wynk Music employees will be absorbed within the Airtel ecosystem,” a spokeswoman told PTI shortly after the business announced a strategic collaboration with Apple. 

Wynk Premium subscribers will now be able to take advantage of special Apple Music offers.”Airtel plans to close Wynk Music in the next months. Another report stated that it will integrate all staff into the corporation. Airtel first launched the Wynk Music app a decade ago, in 2014. As part of the new agreement, Apple TV+ will be integrated into Airtel’s Xstream video streaming platform, which is available through premium subscription options. However, Airtel has yet to announce the financial conditions of the deal or the pricing specifics for the plans. 

Airtel’s announcement comes as Disney and Reliance seek antitrust permission in India for their $8.5 billion merger, which aims to create the country’s largest entertainment conglomerate.
