AirAsia India, announced the appointment of former Tata group official Deepak Mahendra as its new Chief Financial Officer. The appointment of Deepak Mahendra, will take with immediate effect, previously he has been associated with Tata Power for a period of eight years. The post of CFO in Air Asia had been vacant after the resignation of Ankur Khanna.
Prior to joining AirAsia India, Mahendra had been working as the chief of (corporate finance and accounts) at Tata Power since 2008. A chartered accountant by profession, he has more than three decades of experience in the finance function.
Mahendra started his career with Tata Steel and later went to Tata Power.
AirAsia India, which is a joint venture between the Malaysia’s AirAsia Berhad, and the Tata commenced its operations in June 2014. While Tata Sons holds 49%, with its two directors — S Ramadorai and R Venkataramanan — have 0.5% and 1.5% shareholding, respectively, in the airline. The remaining 49% is with AirAsia Investment Ltd.
Presently, AirAsia India flies to 11 destinations with New Delhi and Bengaluru, as its two hubs.
