Chennai, India, October 14: Nippon Paint (India), a leading eco-friendly paint manufacturer, announced the launch of the first-ever Asia Young Designer Award (AYDA) contest in India. The contest, formerly called the Nippon Paint Young Designer Award, aims to identify talent among students of Architecture and Interior Design across the country. It was first launched in 2008.
Participants will have to create a unique design to architects, interior designers, commercial buyers, and the community alike. This year’s theme is “Be Bold. Be Free. Be You.”
Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- Green and sustainable design concept
- Colour concept
Design innovation Design concept statement
The entries will be judged by a jury consisting of eminent personalities chosen from the fields of architecture and interior design. The jury among others includes Mr. C.N. Raghavendran, Architect and Managing Director of CRN, Architects & Engineers; Ms. Divya Kush, President of the Indian Institute of Architects, and Mr. Kiran Venkatesh, Architect & Co-Founder of InFORM Architects, to name a few.
The shortlisted national winner will get an opportunity to take part in an Asia-Pacific-level contest. The winner will get a cash prize of US$1,000, a 6-month internship with IJM Land Berhad, a leading property developer in Malaysia, and a trip to Bali for a learning programme.
