Nokia’s iconic logo is being changed for the first time in 60 years to reflect a strategic shift

Nokia Logo

On Sunday, Nokia announced revamping its brand identity for the first time, after almost 60 years, entirely with a new logo. The blue color of the previous logo has been replaced with various colors depending on the application.

Overview

The new logo consists of five distinct shapes that form the word NOKIA. Depending on the application, the iconic blue logo is being replaced with various colors. “There was the smartphone association, and now we are a business technology company,” stated CEO Pekka Lundmark

He spoke on the eve of the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC), which begins on Monday and runs until March 2 in Barcelona. While Nokia continues striving to expand its service provider business, which sells equipment to telecom companies, it has shifted its primary focus to selling equipment to other businesses.

Lundmark asserts. “Last year, we saw a 21% increase in enterprise, which now accounts for about 8% of our sales, or roughly 2 billion euros ($2.11 billion). We’d like to reach double digits as soon as possible.”

Major technology companies have partnered with telecom equipment makers such as Nokia to sell private 5G networks and automated factory gear to customers. Nokia plans to evaluate the growth paths of its various businesses and consider alternatives such as divestment.

End Note

Nokia’s venture into factory automation and data centers will pit them against major technology companies such as Microsoft and Amazon.

“India is our fastest growing market with lower margins,” Lundmark concluded, wanting to add that Nokia expects North America to accomplish better in the second half of the year.
