Tata Motors, which has established itself as a market leader in the electric passenger vehicle segment, announced on Thursday the launch of an electric version of the Ace light commercial vehicle (LCV).
According to the business, Amazon, BigBasket, City Link, DOT, Flipkart, LetsTransport, MoEVing, and Yelo EV have all placed orders totaling 39,000 units.
N Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Motors, remarked, “Electric mobility is a concept whose time has come.” “In passenger vehicles, CVs, and Jaguar Land Rover, Tata Motors is working with speed and scale to lead this shift.”
With the introduction of the Ace EV, a new era of e-cargo mobility has begun. “The electrification of CVs excites me.”
According to Tata Motors, the Ace is India’s first commercially available four-wheeler cargo EV. The Ace has sold over 2.5 million units since its introduction in 2005.
The vehicle is available with petrol, diesel, and compressed natural gas engines. “It is already a car of choice in its sector, with over 70% market share,” Girish Wagh, Tata Motors’ executive director, told FE.
The price will be published when Tata Motors begins delivering the Ace EV to customers next quarter. “With the Ace EV, we will be able to undercut the total cost of ownership (TCO) of an equivalent diesel vehicle,” Wagh said.
