Vodafone Idea, India’s debt-ridden telecom provider, said on Sunday that during 5G trials in Pune, it achieved a peak speed of 3.7 gigabits per second (gbps), the fastest by any operator in the country.
In Gandhinagar and Pune, the firm stated to have recorded 1.5 gbps download speeds in the mid-band spectrum.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has assigned Vi (Vodafone Idea) high-frequency bands such as 26 gigahertz (Ghz) as well as the conventional 3.5 GHz spectrum band for 5G network testing.
In Pune, Vi has launched its 5G experiment in a lab setup comprising an end-to-end captive network of Cloud Core, next-generation Transport, and Radio Access Network. “Vi has reached a top speed in excess of 3.7 Gbps with very low latency on the mmWave (millimetre wave) spectrum band in this testing,” Vi stated in a statement.
