Doctors of the 1000 bed Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad`s contributed to the study titled timing of surgery following SARS – CoV – 2 infection :an international prospective cohort study which has been awarded the Guinness World Record Title for peer-review by most number of (15,025 ) authors of an academic paper. This certificate is achieved by Covid surgical collaborative and global surgical collaborative Birmingham UK and verified on 24 March 2021.
Authors from across 116 countries collaborated on this academic paper. Data was shared by the authors to inform decision making and improve safety for patients undergoing surgery during the pandemic.
Two leading cancer and cardiac surgeons of the hospital Dr Raghunandan ,Onco surgeon and Dr Vishal Bhende , Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon and a team of Junior doctors comprising Dr Hardil Majmudar, Dr Tanishq Sharma , Dr Saptak Mankad , Dr Shivang Amin, Sohilkhan Pathan, Rohit Kumar were part of the largest global study “ Timing of surgery following SARS-CoV-2 infection”. Peri-operative SARS-CoV-2 infection increases postoperative mortality. The aim of this study was to determine the optimal duration of planned delay before surgery in patients who have had SARS-CoV-2 infection. This international, multicentre, prospective cohort study included patients undergoing elective or emergency surgery during October 2020.The primary outcome measure was 30-day postoperative mortality.
The world’s largest ever international study on surgery was conducted by the University of Birmingham and funded by National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) .
