Tesla Motors- Winning at technology

The Foundation:
The limited resources of traditional fuels like diesel and petrol has led many automobile companies to focus on increasing the efficiencies of motors. Controlling the heat losses, reducing total weight of vehicle, improving aero-dynamical design of car are few of the ways to make car engines more efficient. Tesla is a company which is fighting this problem by a whole new approach. The fact that fossil fuels are going to deplete eventually, founders of tesla decided not to hinge to this temporary fuel. Tesla motors, has been founded in 2003 with a sole motive to make smart electric cars. Instead of an internal combustion engine, the Tesla Motors electric vehicles use a three-phase alternating current (AC) induction motor, a technology first patented in the US in 1888 by Nikola Tesla. Tesla’s primary goal was to commercialize electric vehicles, starting with a premium sports car aimed at early adopters and then moving as rapidly as possible into more mainstream vehicles, including sedans and affordable compacts. ‘Tesla Roadster’ was the first cars produced by tesla motors and about 2450 of them were sold all over the world.
Current technology:
The cars are made totally operable by the computers. The rpm or the torque can also be managed by software. According to Tesla Motors, “The Power Electronics Module processor controls the Roadster when in drive mode. The processor monitors the accelerator pedal and uses the information to control current to the motor. To ensure that generated torque is appropriate for the state of other components in the car, many other processors outside of the Power Electronics Module monitor the status of the car and send outside requirements to the Power Electronics Module.” ‘Tesla Model S’ which was first produced in 2012 has a 17 inch screen which is connected to the 3G network which allows the driver to attain knowledge of weather, maps, news, etc. This screen also monitors and controls the temperature and humidity in car.
Establishment:
Tesla Motors operates more than 200 stores and galleries, 120 of which outside USA. It owns the stores and sells directly to customers in the stores or via the internet. CEO Elon Musk has said that he envisions Tesla Motors as an independent automaker, aimed at eventually offering electric cars at prices affordable to the average consumer. Pricing for the Tesla Model 3, slated to begin retail deliveries by the end of 2017, will start at US$35,000 before any government incentives. Tesla manufactures equipment for home and office battery charging, and has installed a network of high-powered Superchargers across North America, Europe and Asia. The company also operates a Destination Charging program, under which shops, restaurants and other venues are offered fast chargers for their customers.
Upcoming Upgrades:
CEO Elon Musk stated that the ‘voice command’ is a new feature to be added to the car which allows you to communicate with your car vocally. Cameras and software are being used to avoid accidents. Entire world is hoping that the rumor- “Tesla is now working on a self-driving car” is true.
